Classical Education is the pursuit of wisdom through a cultivation of intellectual virtue and an encouragement of moral virtue by means of a rich and ordered course of study, grounded in the liberal arts; ascending through humane letters, mathematics, natural science, philosophy, and theology; and yielding informed self-rule and a well-ordered understanding of human nature, the cosmos, and God.
The Classical Education Minor forms future teachers and administrators for classical schools through courses that impart a rich vision of classical education, as well as through observation of the K12 liberal arts classroom. A student wishing to minor in Classical Education must complete 19 credit hours, as outlined below.

A minimum of 6 additional credit hours at the 300 and 400 levels. Many additional departments offer “Teaching” courses under the 393 heading that typically can count as elective credit for the Classical Education minor. Any courses other than those listed below must be approved by the Chairman of the Education Department.
